About this job
The open field of a cold-ply roof after the granulated cap has been laid. This is the simplest looking part of any flat roof and the part that most rewards care, because every square metre of field is bounded by a seam and the seams are the roof. In these frames the laps run consistently in one direction, which keeps water moving across joints rather than into them, and they are held to a steady width rather than being generous in the easy stretches and tight where the run got awkward. The granule surface takes the ultraviolet load and gives grip underfoot. Cold-ply reaches this point more slowly than a torched system because the adhesive sets to its own schedule rather than the crew's, but the finished field behaves the same way afterwards, and it got there without an open flame on a roof that shares a wall with somebody else's house.
