These terms apply to your use of this website and to roofing services provided by Flat
Roofs Toronto (“we”, “us”, “our”). Please read them. If you do not agree with them, please do
not use this website or engage us for work.
1. About our services
We provide flat and low slope roofing services in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area,
including installation, repair, maintenance, skylight work, and attic work. The services
actually to be provided on any job are the ones set out in the written quote or contract you
sign, and nothing on this website adds to or changes that document.
2. Quotes and estimates
Any price, figure, or timeline given on this website, by phone, by text, or by email is an
estimate for discussion only. It is not an offer capable of acceptance and it does not bind
either of us.
A quote becomes binding only when it is issued by us in writing and signed by you, or
otherwise accepted in the manner set out on the quote itself. Quotes are valid for the period
stated on them. Where no period is stated, a quote is valid for 30 days from its date.
3. Site conditions and change orders
Roofing work frequently uncovers conditions that could not be seen during the initial
inspection, such as rotted or damaged decking, previous repairs, structural issues, moisture in
the existing assembly, or the presence of additional roof layers. Where that happens, we will
tell you before proceeding and issue a written change order describing the additional work and
its cost. Additional work is not carried out until the change order is approved, except where
work is needed immediately to keep the building weathertight or the site safe.
4. Access to the property
By engaging us, you confirm that you own the property or are authorised to have the work
done, and you agree to give us and our crews safe access to the property, the roof, and where
needed the interior, for the duration of the work.
You agree to:
- move or protect vehicles, garden furniture, planters, and other items near the work area;
- tell us in advance about anything on or in the building we should know about, including
solar equipment, satellite dishes, alarms, skylights, hidden services, and known structural
problems; and - keep people and pets clear of the work area and of any drop zone while work is under way.
Roofing work is noisy and creates debris and vibration. Items hanging on walls or stored in
the attic may be disturbed. We ask that you take these down or protect them in advance.
5. Scheduling and weather
Start and completion dates are estimates. Flat roofing is weather dependent and work may be
delayed by rain, snow, wind, or temperature. We will keep you informed of any change. We are
not liable for losses caused by delays that are outside our reasonable control.
6. Payment terms
[CLIENT TO CONFIRM] The deposit, progress payment, and final payment terms
that apply to your job are the ones stated on your signed quote or contract. The following is a
placeholder and must be confirmed by Flat Roofs Toronto before this page is published:
- Deposit due on acceptance: [CLIENT TO CONFIRM]
- Balance due: [CLIENT TO CONFIRM]
- Accepted payment methods: [CLIENT TO CONFIRM]
- Interest on overdue amounts: [CLIENT TO CONFIRM]
Applicable taxes are added to all amounts. Where an invoice remains unpaid, we may suspend
further work, and warranty coverage may not take effect until the account is paid in full.
7. Warranty
Where a warranty applies to your job, its terms, its length, and what it covers are set out
in the written warranty documents we issue on completion, together with any manufacturer
warranty on the materials used. Those documents govern. Nothing on this website extends,
replaces, or adds to them.
Warranties generally do not cover damage caused by storms, hail, falling objects, fire,
foot traffic, work carried out by others, alterations or penetrations made after our work,
structural movement, blocked drains, or a lack of reasonable maintenance. Ask us for a copy of
the warranty terms before you sign, and keep the documents you are given.
8. Maintenance
Flat roofs need periodic inspection and cleaning, particularly of drains, scuppers, and
gutters. Neglecting maintenance can shorten the life of a roof and can affect warranty
coverage. We can advise on a reasonable maintenance schedule for your roof.
9. Emergency service
Emergency attendance is intended to make a roof safe and to limit further water entry. It is
a temporary measure, not a permanent repair, unless we tell you otherwise in writing.
10. Cancellation
Cancellation rights and any cancellation charges are set out in your signed quote or
contract, and where the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario) applies to your
agreement, your statutory rights under that Act apply in addition and are not limited by these
terms.
11. Use of this website
The content of this website, including text, photographs, and logos, belongs to Flat Roofs
Toronto or is used with permission. You may view and print pages for your own use in
considering our services. You may not copy, republish, or use our content for another business
without our written permission.
The information on this site is general information about flat roofing. It is not a
technical specification and it is not advice about your particular roof. Do not rely on it in
place of an inspection.
We try to keep the site accurate and available, but we do not guarantee that it will always
be available, error free, or up to date.
12. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability
for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or liability for fraud.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including
loss of profit, loss of business, loss of use, or loss of data; - we are not liable for pre-existing conditions of the building, or for damage arising from
defects in the existing structure, deck, or drainage that were not part of our scope of work; - our total liability in connection with any job is limited to the amount you paid us for
that job; and - our total liability in connection with your use of this website is limited to nil, as the
website is provided for information only.
13. Insurance
Coverage documentation for our crews can be provided on request before work begins, and you should ask the same of any contractor you consider.
14. Privacy
Personal information you give us is handled in accordance with our
Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force is the one posted on this
page. The terms that apply to a job are the ones in force when you signed your quote or
contract.
16. Governing law
These terms, this website, and any work we carry out are governed by the laws of the
Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario. The courts of Ontario
have jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rights you
have.
