Flat Roofs Toronto (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what
personal information we collect when you contact us or use this website, why we collect it,
how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in
accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act
(PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario law.
Information we collect
We only collect the information we need in order to respond to you and to quote or carry
out roofing work.
Information you give us
When you submit our quote or contact form, call us, or email us, we may collect:
- your name;
- your phone number;
- your email address;
- the address of the property the work relates to;
- the type of service you are asking about; and
- anything else you choose to tell us in the message field, by phone, or by email.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours records limited technical information when you visit, which may
include your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you viewed, and the site or
search that referred you. We also store the IP address recorded with a form submission, which
helps us identify spam.
Information from work we carry out
If you become a customer, we also keep records relating to the job itself, such as the site
address, inspection notes, photographs of the roof, quotes, invoices, and warranty documents.
Why we collect it and how we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
- To schedule, carry out, and invoice roofing work.
- To provide warranty service and keep a record of what was installed.
- To contact you about your enquiry or your job, by phone, email, or text message.
- To keep our business records and meet legal, tax, and insurance obligations.
- To understand how the website is used so we can improve it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade contact lists.
Consent
When you submit a form on this site, call us, or email us, you are consenting to us using
the information you provide to respond to you about that enquiry.
Text messages and email
If you give us your mobile number and tick the consent box on our form, you agree that we
may send you text messages about your enquiry, your quote, and your scheduled work. Message
frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to receive text messages is not a
condition of purchasing anything from us.
You can stop receiving text messages at any time by replying STOP to any
message from us, and you can reply HELP for assistance. You can unsubscribe
from marketing email using the link in any such email, or by writing to
[email protected]. We may still contact you about work that is already
scheduled or in progress, because that is service communication rather than marketing.
Withdrawing consent
You may withdraw your consent to our use of your personal information at any time, subject
to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Contact us at
[email protected] and we will explain what withdrawing consent will mean
in your situation. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide certain services,
including warranty support that depends on our records.
Cookies and analytics
This website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working correctly and,
where enabled, to measure traffic. Analytics tools such as Google Analytics may set cookies
and collect aggregated information about how visitors use the site, including approximate
location, device, and pages viewed. This information is used in aggregate and is not used by
us to identify you personally.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may affect how the
site works. You can also opt out of Google Analytics using the browser add-on that Google
provides.
Sharing your information
We share personal information only where it is necessary, and only with:
- service providers who help us run our business, such as our website host, email provider,
form and messaging providers, and accounting software, and only to the extent they need it; - subcontractors or suppliers involved in carrying out your job, where the work requires it;
- our insurers or professional advisors, where relevant to a claim or dispute; and
- authorities or other parties where we are required or permitted to do so by law.
Some of these providers may store or process information outside Canada, in which case the
information may be subject to the laws of that country. We take reasonable steps to use
providers that offer a comparable level of protection.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and for a reasonable
period afterwards. We keep records relating to completed work, including contracts, invoices,
and warranty documents, for as long as the warranty may run and for as long as tax, insurance,
and limitation periods require. When information is no longer needed, we destroy, erase, or
anonymise it.
Protecting your information
We use reasonable physical, organisational, and technical safeguards to protect personal
information against loss, theft, and unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use, or
modification. This includes limiting access to those who need it to do their job. No method of
transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Accuracy, access, and correction
We rely on you to tell us if your details change. You have the right to ask what personal
information we hold about you, to ask for a copy of it, and to ask us to correct anything that
is inaccurate or incomplete. Write to us at [email protected]. We may ask
you to verify your identity before we respond. We will respond within the time allowed by
PIPEDA, normally within 30 days. In limited circumstances the law allows us to refuse access,
in which case we will explain why.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first
at [email protected] and we will look into it. If you are not satisfied
with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Links to other websites
Our site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or
content of sites we do not operate. Please read their privacy policies.
Children
Our services are directed at property owners and managers. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on
this page with the date it was last updated. Material changes will be reflected here before
they take effect.
